*The Nines Trick*

My favorite subject is mathematics. There are A LOT of people who don’t like mathematics, so I decided to make a video on a mathematics trick. Hopefully people will learn to enjoy mathematics since there are tricks to the subject. The name of this trick is called The Nines Trick. The Nines Trick can only be used when multiplying 9 to any number up to 10.

Another way to do The Nines Trick is making a column of numbers on a sheet of paper from 0-9, then in the next column, write the numbers 9-0. Look below for further explanation.

0 9 = 9 x 1

1 8 = 9 x 2

2 7 = 9 x 3

3 6 = 9 x 4

4 5 = 9 x 5

5 4 = 9 x 6

6 3 = 9 x 7

7 2 = 9 x 8

8 1 = 9 x 9

9 0 = 9 x 10

If people do not believe that mathematics is simple, it is only because they do not realize how complicated life is.

What is edupunk? Edupunk is a way in which you teach and learn with a Do It Yourself (DIY) attitude. DIY attitude can be found mostly in college students. Some college students don’t want to go to classes every day, so why not have a DIY attitude?!?! If I miss one day of class, I will not be able to get back on track. I don’t depend on classmates for class notes because the way I understand notes, is different from the way they do.

Talk − Action = Zero

1-1=0. You cannot have talk without action and you cannot have action without talk.     Talk <–> Action.

Ed techs like to claim that the Internet represents a revolution in human communication, one with profound effects on how we produce, consume, share, and value knowledge.

The Internet is a way of sharing information with many people. If you don’t know something, the Internet is your best friend. Technology makes life better and easier.

Educational technology is the study and ethical practice of facilitating learning and improving performance by creating, using and managing appropriate technological processes and resources.

Technology enhances learning. Students will be more engaged and that is always a good thing. Students will love to work on technological devices during school.

One thing that I like about higher education is that you can create online spaces. Higher education will be known as the guardian of knowledge.

Some basic concepts of edupunk are: human interaction, sharing information, and teaching.

Educational technology will continue to be on the rise.

Poll Question: When you become a K-12 educator, how would you make sure that teaching is no longer being downgraded?

Only 3 people answered my poll question. The results are below.

2 Teach is
2 Touch lives
4 Ever

Educators should be given more in credit in what they love to do. Being an educator will not get you a hefty check and that is very sad. You don’t get a profession for the money (some people do), but in order for you and your family to have a comfortable life, you need financial stability. An educator helps to pave a road for their students. They want to make sure that their students succeed in life. Who doesn’t?!?!

Poll respondent #1 feels that once their students learn, their job is done. I agree. If my students are learning the material being taught, I will be happy with myself. I will feel a sense of accomplishment, which is always a good thing.

I think that my students will be an example of what kind of teacher I am, therefore, I will not be downgraded. ~ Poll respondent #2

Poll respondent #2 is confident in their career. If I am a great teacher, I will expect nothing less of my students. If you are in my class, you represent me. IF YOU FAIL, I FAIL!

By demanding to be treated as a professional, people will be forced to change their opinion about teachers. We are skilled people and we have to demand respect . ~ Poll respondent #3

Poll respondent #3 will demand respect. As I tell people, you don’t have to like me, but you will respect me. If you are a professional, you should be treated as one.

The problem of education does not concern me quite as much as the solutions to problem of education are starting to concern me.

The above quote can be found here.

There needs to be more solutions to the problems in education.

Teaching is a beautiful profession.

This quote can be found here.

I agree with this quote 100%. Teachers don’t get the credit they need. People always downgrade teachers. Being a teacher should be the NUMBER 1 profession in the world, but it is not. When I become an educator, I will not make people downgrade me. That is a BIG NO, NO!

Teaching is a far greater value to society than it is often given credit for.

This quote can be found here.

To change education is to change society.

This quote can be found here.

In order for us to have a better society, more people need to get a higher education. I am an advocate of higher education, hence the reason why I want to become an educator.

With that image, you are now going to write a few descriptive words explaining the image, BUT you will be using NUMBERS instead of LETTERS. In each word, you will insert a dash () in between every number. Make sure you use proper punctuation marks, if necessary.

Letters to Numbers –> A=1, B=2, C=3, M=13, N=14, O=15, X=24, Y=25, Z=26.

Example ~

I uploaded the image above in pixlr and then used the text feature to add the numbers.

Assignment originated from here.

Grade Level ~ 1st grade

Subject ~ Mathematics

Assignment ~ Choose an image that relates to your life. On that image, you will now edit it and put your favorite number on it. Lastly, please explain what those numbers represent.

The reason for this assignment is for students to learn how important numbers are in every day life.

Example ~ This is an image of a blackboard. The numbers represent my birthday. I was born in the 9th month of the year on the 27th day. LIBRAS RULE!!!!!!!!!!!!

I uploaded the image above in pixlr and then used the text feature to add the numbers.

This assignment came from this idea.

I opened the door at different angles.

The 1st image is the door closed.

The 2nd image is the door opened at an acute angle.

The 3rd image is the door opened at an obtuse angle.

This is a very interesting activity.

Good manners will open doors that the best education cannot.
